Aerial Filming the old-fashioned way. With the door removed the Robinson Helicopter is an extremely exciting way to film South Africa and its wildlife. We were able to get fairly smooth tracking shots of a 4x4 driving across rough desert. The pilot used to round up cattle on a farm using a helicopter and proceeded to demonstrate this out over the desert. Of course, today you'd just hire a drone operator for your aerial shots at the fraction of the cost but, back then, drones just weren't as widely available as they are now. The best part, though, are the massive cultural differences between South Africa and back home in the UK. I'm fairly certain we would not be allowed to film out of the door of a Robinson over the fields of Kent, or the coastline of Cornwall.
